Since modernization, convenience, and the moderne way of thinking impact both the population bomb and global warming, these two factors become our only hope of slowing the inevitable: the next Ice Age—and the eventual overcrowding of the planet.

Black Cloud makes a compelling case for why the promotion of the Western progressive lifestyle and the increased burning of fossil fuels should be adopted into the Council-of-Concerned-Conservationists Program as a way to reach the Global South.

Hedonism, he argues, has the pleasant side effect of reducing fertility. The suffragette lifestyle renders the bearing and raising of children an unacceptable burden. This pursuit of pleasure—codified in the Declaration of Independence as the “pursuit of happiness”—leads directly to sub-replacement birth rates. A new Declaration of Decadence may be our best chance of reversing global population growth.

This declaration would be paired with our Legalization of Crime program and our Subsidized Drug Initiative, which will go three steps beyond what Federal and State governments are already doing.

Do you think the addicts in those drive-by films from the Kensington section of Philly are going to produce many productive children? How do they pay for their drugs now, if not via government handouts?

Under our proposal, Soma dispensaries will be available on every corner—or inside every Dunking Donuts, Starbacks, and fast food joint. Which amounts to the same thing.

None of this will be incompatible with our campaign to increase the use of carbon-based fuels. These fuels power the wasting of electricity, the turning up of heat in winter, and the cranking down of air conditioning in summer. Gas guzzlers and SUV-style “gigantic pickup trucks”—once demonized by journalists as having agency—will see increased production, boosted by rebates and fueled by cheap, abundant energy.

The ice sheets have been waxing and waning for aeons. We are in a retreating phase. But their return—as mile-high, ground-crunching slabs of destruction—is inevitable… unless man-made global warming saves us.

Alongside Manifest Destiny and the American drive to export our lifestyle, we must go on the offensive to convert Africa and South Asia. These two regions are increasing human numbers at exponential rates. Progress is already underway: the internet now reaches more of the globe by the second.

Our proposals go beyond Left and Right. Or rather, as you can see, there’s enough here to piss off both sides.

Conservatives lament the decadent Western lifestyle, when in fact it may save us from a population catastrophe. Meanwhile, the Left Establishment remains stubbornly opposed to carbon-based fuels—blinded to the fact that carbon is our only real buffer against the Glacial Deluge.

Both are deluded. Both lack vision. And neither side sees the necessity of our counterintuitive reforms.

This is all so obvious it is only a matter of time before the current, dominant political spectrum recognizes the brilliance of Black Cloud’s proposal.
