The CIVIL WARS Picture Card Series comes to us as another piece of Council Ephemera, brought to you by The Perennial Sophomore, brother publication of the Council-of-Concerned-Conservationists Newsletter.

The Council provides the display case. The Perennial Sophomore gets all the credit—and all the blame.

(Our little patron saint of arrested development is one of the famous Lewis Chessmen: a medieval Norse berserker caught forever biting his shield. Probably carved around 1200, he has spent some eight centuries in precisely the same state of overwrought enthusiasm. We could think of no more appropriate presiding spirit for The Perennial Sophomore.)
